We are actively seeking competitors for: Muay Thai (knees to body, no elbows), MMA and Boxing matches.

Seminar: Online registration coming shortly.
Smoker: If you wish to participate in the smoker, please shoot me an email and I will get you on our list. In your email, please detail the following:
Your name, email address, school information (name, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address if possible), your height and weight, your record (include all amateur events - smokers, other martial arts, boxing, etc...) and how long you have trained Muay Thai. This is to ensure as fair of matchups as possible. The more details the better. matt@dragonlegmt.com

Smoker FAQ's

How will I be matched up with someone to fight? We ask all participants for their basic information, training experience, fight experience and measure all the basic physical features of the fighter during weigh in. Our experts (professional Thai fighters) then match fighters up according to these elements. You will have a chance to know who you are fighting beforehand. The purpose of the Dragon Leg Smokers is for everyone involved to gain experience and improve their skills. Some people take these much more seriously than others, but overall the atmosphere is one of intense, but friendly competition. Speaking personally, I have gone out for beers with everyone I have ever fought after the night of matches. The safety of everyone involved is of the highest regard, and we don't believe in understating records to try to build up fighters. It's just not worth it in the long run, and ends up cheating the fighters.

I want to fight, but what's the smoker like? Is it like sparring? Once again I will shift into first person mode here and just give you a sample of my experiences. They have always been positive, win or lose. Fighting in a smoker is just that, fighting. While sparring is an excellent activity for building your skills, fighting at the amateur level is the next step in the evolution of your Muay Thai (or MMA) education. You can expect to get hit, probably hard, and think more than once "That's going to hurt later". If someone is interested, I personally would encourage you to give it an opportunity. Even with a few months of training under your belt, if you and your trainer feel like a challenge, we will try to match you up with someone of a similar caliber.

I want to attend the seminar and/or smoker! I am from out of town, where should I stay? The most convenient hotel is the Hampton Inn Novi (actually located in Commerce). It's about a mile from the gym. The Hampton Inn runs around $100 a night, if you are on more of a budget, we have had people stay at the Red Roof Inn Farmington Hills. It runs a little less than $60 a night, and is about 5 or so miles from the gym.
